F. L. Blanc rental cottage Built in 1904
This is one of three rental properties constructed by F.L. Blanc, the first resident preacher of Julian, located near Third and C Streets. With a modest salary of just $50 per quarter, Blanc’s earnings were insufficient to support his expanding family of eight. To supplement his income, he utilized his carpentry expertise to build not only these rental homes but also several other structures throughout Julian. In addition to his work as a preacher, Blanc operated a lumber mill in the northern Cuyamaca Mountains and owned the Mercantile store on Main Street, further solidifying his influence and legacy in the community.
